The Fiber Art Center opened in 2001 and is the home of the non-profit Foundation for Fiber Art Inc.  The Foundation is devoted to enriching the community through education, exhibition, and promotion of contemporary fiber art and textiles.  The founder’s goal was to create an organization devoted solely to fiber art that would provide a comprehensive perspective on the rich and diverse medium of fiber art, with a special focus on weaving.

The Fiber Art Center fulfills its mission through its Exhibition Gallery, Retail Gallery and seasonally changing Class Schedule.

The Exhibition Gallery hosts a changing roster of local, national and international fiber artists.  Both emerging and established artists are featured.  Lectures occasionally accompany exhibits.  On permanent display is the work of Peruvian tapestry weaver, Maximo Laura.  The Fiber Art Center also houses a collection of tapestries by Mary Merrill.

The Retail Gallery features fine crafts of artisans from around the country.  The Retail Gallery features wearable art, jewelry, hand-dyed yarns, craft for the home and of course a wide range of contemporary textiles. View our Gallery.

Classes are ongoing and can reflect the work on exhibit in the Gallery.  The Fiber Art Center offers classes in many different fiber techniques for all discipline levels.
